2024 Year in Review

There are so many ways to measure the impact of a year’s work. We could give you a dollar amount—$3,240,000 in grants made to organizations throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. We could count the many events we hosted (sooo many). We could share with you the experiences we had while traveling and visiting communities across our region, from a gorgeous sunset in Long Beach to learning about the original stewards of the land in Pendleton to exchanging stories over delicious Thai food in Klamath Falls.

2024 is the sum of all of these parts and more. Here are some additional highlights that come to mind:

  • Our Civic Health C4 Power Program came to an end in 2024, and we’ve been reflecting on what comes next. We took stock of what went well and are planning our next chapter of boldly resourcing BIPOC-led 501c4s with these lessons in mind.

  • So. Many. Events. Four Justice Reinvestment Equity Program Convenings, including two in person. Two C4 Power Program Convenings, both in person. Three community dinners. Countless conferences and grantmaker gatherings in Montana, Arizona, New Jersey, etc.

  • We launched new versions of Disability Justice: An Audit Tool, including Spanish and plain English, as well as the DJ Audit Tool graphics package with original illustrations by Liz Artistry.

  • We had front row seats to our grantees’ political wins, which included a progressive Multnomah County commission, a congressional seat flipped in Oregon, and Washington holding the line on several key ballot measures.

  • Our work to increase nonprofit wages continues to move as we work on a bill for the next legislative session. The Taskforce for Modernizing Grant Funding and Contracting released their recommendations report.

  • In partnership with a talented videographer and some of our Justice Reinvestment Equity Program grantees, we helped create this beautiful video capturing critical community-led work to promote healing and advance public safety in Oregon.

  • We undertook an accessibility audit of the Center for Philanthropy and have begun working on improvements. Speaking of, the Center for Philanthropy is at full capacity and our meeting rooms are buzzing with activity!

At the final Civic Health C4 Power Program Convening in December, participants create collages celebrating their accomplishments over the last four years.
