A few words from Jen Matheson, our Director of Programs

While David’s time with NWHF has been too short, he has left an indelible mark on our hearts and the communities we serve. David’s firsthand experience in nonprofit operations and services in rural Oregon was invaluable as we launched the Justice Reinvestment Equity Program. His willingness to immerse himself in relaunching the Advancing Disability Justice program speaks to his commitment to learning.

David leads with a deep-rooted belief in centering the dignity and self-determination of communities. And this is not to mention David’s epicurean and entrepreneurial sensibilities, which are surprisingly more helpful as a program officer than you might imagine!

David, as you head into new adventures may you continue to uplift those around you with your warmth and generosity.

A few words from David

Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to travel throughout Oregon and Washington, meeting providers, leaders and advocates passionately working to improve conditions, address inequities, and shift power in their communities. I am incredibly grateful to have had Northwest Health Foundation as my introduction to philanthropy.

I am proud of the thoughtful program design and implementation of the Justice Reinvestment Equity Program I participated in. I am also proud of my time in the community, where I deeply engaged with people from across the state and learned profoundly from their experiences and perspectives.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the grantees, partners and colleagues who have not only made my time at Northwest Health Foundation meaningful but have also significantly shaped my journey. Your dedication, resilience, and commitment to creating positive change have been a constant source of inspiration for me.

I am filled with anticipation and excitement for this next chapter. While the path ahead may not be entirely clear, I am eager to explore new opportunities and continue my journey in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector, deeply enriched by the experiences and profound lessons from my time in the Pacific Northwest.
